Welcome to Littlehampton Swimming Club

Littlehampton Swimming Club was founded in 1983 which coincided with the opening of the new pool at Littlehampton. It was only due to the consistant effort from Doreen Benham (Vice President) and her supporters that the pool was built in the first place.

We are a successful competitive swimming club, welcoming new young members of all abilities who share our enthusiasm for competitive swimming in a friendly club environment, where each swimmer is treated as an individual, but everyone is part of the team. As a small club we put great store in the importance of this team spirit and consider it important that we are helping to build the character of our young swimmers. We believe that much of our success in competition stems from the support which our swimmers and parents give to each other as well as from individual ability of our swimmers.

Littlehampton Swimming Club has seen many successes over the years at County, Regional, National and International level.

Most recently, in the 2010 Commonwealth Games Simon Miller won a Silver Medal in the S9 50m freestyle. He also set new British Record. In 2008 Simon competed at the Beijing Paralympic Games. Simon trained at Littlehampton Swimming Club up until about 4 years ago when he moved to the Manchester High Performance Aquatic Centre.

In 2009 William Condron, having won the South East Regional BAGCat Competition, came 16th overall in the 13 year boys National Age Group BAGCat Championships and was selected to the England Talent Squad. He is now pursuing his swimming career with a scholarship at St.Bede’s, but continues to compete for us in league galas. In 2011 William was selected to the England South Team for the UK Youth Games. He also reached the semi-finals of the 15 year boys 100m freestyle at the 2011 National Youth Championships.

2010 saw our highest ever finish in the National Arena League (formerly Speedo League) when we came 9th in South Division 1 West.

2011 saw 9 year old Lauren Boothby crowned Sussex County ASA BAGCat Champion.

All of our squad coaches, lane coaches, lane helpers, committee members and other helpers are unpaid volunteers.

Littlehampton Swimming Club continues to go from strength to strength, developing swimmers and coaches alike, working closely with the Leisure Centres we use, enabling us to deliver a first class competitive swimmer development programme.
